We started with one question about where diamonds come from
And found we did not like the answer. So we went looking for a better one.
How we began
CaratMode began in Surat, a city that cuts a large share of the world's diamonds. If you grow up here you learn early that a diamond is not magic — it is carbon, pressure, patience and a very steady hand.
[PLACEHOLDER — the founder's story in their own words. Two or three paragraphs: what they were doing before, the moment that made them start the business, and what they wanted to do differently.]
Grown, not mined
A laboratory-grown diamond is a diamond. Not a simulant, not a substitute — the same cubic carbon lattice, the same 10 on the Mohs scale, the same refractive index of 2.42. Put one next to a mined stone of equal grade and no jeweller can tell them apart by eye.
What differs is the origin. Ours are grown in sealed chambers over about eight weeks, using markedly less land and water than an open-pit mine. [PLACEHOLDER — substantiate the comparison before publishing.]
Cut in Surat
Growing a stone is chemistry. Making it beautiful is craft. Every CaratMode diamond is cut and polished by hand in Surat, then graded by IGI before it goes anywhere near a setting.
[PLACEHOLDER — a short passage on the workshop: how many cutters, how long a stone takes, what the quality check involves.]
What we promise
CaratMode is sold by people, not billboards
We spend less on advertising than on the people who put a CaratMode piece in someone's hand and explain what it is. If that sounds like something you could do, there is a place for you here.
